Helicopter frustration--gone, gone, gone !!! September 7, 2010 francine About a yaer ago I purchased a no name plastic micro copter. It did nothing but spin and crash--very frustrating. I later purchased a pair of Airhogs for christmas. They were hardly controllable and crashed constantly--very frustrating. They proved to be very durable and allowed me to get frustrated over and over. I then purchased a $300 fixed pitch high quality outdoor heli. This shows hope, but still leads to crashes and I may never learn to fly it safely. Then I spotted the Syma S107 on Amazon. Good reviews, gyro, metal frame and the same price as an Airhog. As happens so often I felt it sounded to good to be true, but decided to risk it. Well surprise surprise, it is everything they claimed. It is a beautiful, quality built product, not a toy like so many others. The big sell is that is so stable and easy to fly (landed on coffee table twice on first flight) that I felt a goal in life had been finally answered. The only gripe would be 45 min charge (USB) and about a 7 minute flight. The answer to my only gripe was simply to get a second one and thustly double the flying time. It is not high performance, but is does offer relaxing and satisfying indoor flight.
I couldn't be happier and highly recommend it to "frustrated" Airhog pilots everywhere. Buy two, buy three you won't be disappointed.
Great Little Relaxation Device September 7, 2010 Barry (Salt Lake City, Utah United States) I'm having a ball with this little baby. It flies well, and has precision control. The only issue I could see was that the English instructions need to be rewritten. They were horrible. One word for the wise . . . don't fly this chopper too close to fluorescent lighting. The IR in the lamps will kill everything.
Wrong item sent, but still o.k. September 7, 2010 jowyhurtado Received the wrong item, a 'chinook' style instead of the one pictured. I would understand if the color was different or something, but this was just completely wrong. It's still fairly fun to play with, although the battery life is pretty awful - like 1 minute tops and it can't even get itself off the ground. I would say it's spent maybe 10 minutes total in the air since I got it about 1 month ago. Since it can't really make it off the ground I can't really say it does what it says, but I gave it 3 stars for fun since I can terrorize my dog with it on the kitchen floor.
Great idea, lack of tech support kills it September 5, 2010 David Levy (Fort Washington, PA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After the brief maiden voyage, I have had nothing but problems. It seems that if the controller has a blinking green light (as compared to a steady green light) that there is insufficient battery power. A fresh set of Duracell AA lasted only one flight before the dreaded blinking green light. I have tried Powerx rechargeable AAs without success. These Powerez AAs have worked for everything up to this point (including my Airhogs).
The lack of technical support is what kills this product. There is no website, no phone number, nothing. The directions are classic Chinese mis-translated into English; and are lacking any troubleshooting ideas.
While Airhogs maybe more expensive, at least you can get a hold of someone with a question or problem.
Sadly this heli is going back.
If it would only work, this would be a great copter.
Great starter remote controlled helicoper September 5, 2010 Loren D Clevenger For the price of $29 this is a great helicopter, took it to a party and 4-5 people flew for the very first time and all wanted to know how to get one.
Definitely happy with this purchase.
